L2 2020 Engineering Power Tools

These are all the power tools that we used during the can crusher and gear knob projects.

L2 2020 Engineering Hand Tools

This is all the hand tools that we used during our two projects this year.

Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the selection, use, and care of engineering hand tools.

Evidence to Support   US 2395 v9  Level 2  worth 4 Credits

Kiarn Leonard-Graham

NSN 0135464244

This is an entry-level unit standard for people to demonstrate a basic understanding of selecting, using and caring for the correct type of engineering hand tools.

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of the selection of different types of hand tools; select and use engineering hand tools to meet task requirements; and care for engineering hand tools.

Engineering hand tools applicable to this unit standard fall within the following categories:

Cutting tools: examples – hacksaws, chisels, files, hole punches, tin snips.

Assembly tools: examples – hammers, punches, vices, clamps, spanners, wrenches (including impact and torque), pliers.

My evidence to support my assessment booklet

Cutting tools.

Hack saw This me using a hacksaw with a t blade to cut my angle bar.

Metal file This is me using a file to square out my angle bar for the side rails for the push plate to slide back and forwards.

Tin snips I used tin snips to cut out my push plate because it’s nice and easy with a all good finish

Assembly tools

Spanner or wrench

In this photo this is me using to spanners to change the drill bit in the mill

Hammer This is me using a ball point

hammer to hammer a nail punch to

mark out my holes for my handle of

the can crusher.

Gripping tools This me using the vice to hold

my 20x20 bar for

What have I learnt?

I have learnt a lot more this year about how to use tools correctly and what there for.

What was the most difficult tool to use and why?

Probably tin snips because sometimes there really hard to cut certain material

What did I enjoy? All of it it was a good experience and has prepared me for a engineering job in the future

What would I do differently next time? Slow down a bit and don’t rush as much as I did.

This supports the assessment for Hand Tools that can be found on this website https://sites.google.com/hornby.school.nz/mr-r-manufacturing/senior-manufactring/hand-tools

L2 2020 Engineering Gear Knob and Can Crusher.

Work in Progress

This is my photo evidence of my Can Crusher And the designs I used. I started this project at the start of 2020 and finished at the end of term 2, it was good project to do because theirs all different types of tools and machines to use for this project.

This is my photo evidence of my Gear Knob with drawings. This project started at the end of term two and really enjoyed it, I will probably use this in my car at some stage. And I have used a few new tools for this project. It has a nice polish finish with a nice top cap that I made on the lathe. Overall I’m happy with the outcome.

Digital World

For the past 4 weeks we have been constructing a Augmented reality sandbox. We have been making it for our passion project . In one of the photo is the digital group learning how to set up an augmented reality system.I am part of the team that is building the box . We have our admins working hard on having it working for later on today

I think we took to long on the planing and that is why we only finished one table om time.
I think every body gained some team working skills while working on this project.

Social Science Paragraph writing

Lately, Mr Landley has been teaching us about paragraph writing,

Matariki is a group of stars and is the Maori new year.  Matariki celebration only last for 3 days and it is at the end of May. Nowadays it is important for preserving crops and harvesting crops. Matariki is celebrated by gathering with whanau and reflect on the past.

What makes a home earthquake proof

Earthquake-proof Buildings. One way to to make a simple structure more resistant to these lateral forces is to tie the walls, floor, roof, and foundations into a rigid box that holds together when shaken by a quake.

What was successful? the height of it won it for us and the earthquake proof was also a little successful.

What do architecture do to make super talk buildings safe? They make a good foundation.
